(워싱턴 2017년 9월 21일 PRNewswire=연합뉴스) AAHRPP(The Association for the Accreditation of Human Research Protection Programs, 피험자 보호 프로그램 인증협회)는 오늘, 최초로 미국 국방성 시설도 포함해 6개 이상의 연구 기관들에 인증을 수여했다는 소식을 전했다.
해당 인증허가 기관들은 북동부에 있는 2개의 학술 의료센터들, 중서부의 연구 기관과 보건 시스템 그리고 한국 의료센터를 포함한다. 한국의 해당 의료센터는 서울 이외 지역에서는 최초로 AAHRPP 인증을 받은 시설이기도 하다.
이번에 새롭게 인증된 기간들은 아래와 같다.
- 59번째 메디컬 윙(59th Medical Wing), JBSA(Joint Base San Antonio), 텍사스주, 래클랜드
- 대구가톨릭대학병원(Daegu Catholic University Medical Center), 한국, 대구광역시 남구
- 해컨색 대학 메디컬센터(Hackensack University Medical Center), 뉴저지주, 해컨색
- 샌포드헬스(Sanford Health), 사우스다코타주의 수폴스 그리고 노스다코타주의 파고
- 터프츠 메디컬 센터(Tufts Medical Center, Inc.)와 터프츠 보건과학 대학(Tufts University Health Sciences), 매사추세츠주, 보스턴
- 밴 엔델 연구소(Van Andel Research Institute), 미시간주, 그랜드래피즈
AAHRPP CEO이자 사장(President)인 엘리스 섬머(Elyse I. Summers)는 이번 새로운 인증들을 "행진하는 AAHRPP"의 또 하나의 예라며 기쁜 마음을 전했다.

지금까지 46개의 국제기관을 포함한 247개의 조직 및 기관들이 AAHRPP인증을 획득했다. 인증을 받은 기관들은 연구운영의 모든 단계에서 광범위한 안전가드들을 구축했다는 것과 높은 수준의 연구를 수행하고 있다는 것을 증명해야 한다. 현재 글로벌 협업 연구 기업에서 조직 및 기관들은 신뢰할 수 있는 연구 파트너들을 식별할 수 있게 해주는 AAHRPP 인증 여부에 점점 더 의존하고 있다.
AAHRPP는 미국, 벨기에, 브라질, 캐나다, 중국, 인도, 멕시코, 대한민국, 사우디아라비아, 싱가포르, 남아프리카, 공화국, 대만, 태국 전역의 기관들을 인증해왔다. 또한, 모든 주요 미국 독립 기관들의 심사위원회는 AAHRP인증을 취득했다. 미국 의과대학의 70% 그리고 국립보건원이 자금을 지원하는 학술 의료센터의 상위 84%는 AAHRPP인증을 받았거나 인증 프로세스들을 시작하고 있다. 전 세계 최대 규모의 공공 연구 자금지원 기관인 NIH와 임상 연구 업계 전 세계 최대 스폰서인 파이저(Pfizer, Inc)도 인증을 취득했다.

AAHRPP Accredits Six More Research Organizations, Including First Department of Defense Facility
WASHINGTON, Sept. 21, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The Association for the Accreditation of Human Research Protection Programs today announced that it has accredited six more research organizations, including its first U.S. Department of Defense facility.
The list also includes two academic medical centers in the Northeast, a research institute and health system in the Midwest, and a medical center in South Korea―that country's first AAHRPP-accredited facility outside Seoul.
The newly accredited organizations are:
- 59th Medical Wing, Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas
- Daegu Catholic University Medical Center, Nam-Gu, Daegu, South Korea
- Hackensack University Medical Center, Hackensack, New Jersey
- Sanford Health, Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Fargo, North Dakota
- Tufts Medical Center, Inc. and Tufts University Health Sciences, Boston, Massachusetts
- Van Andel Research Institute, Grand Rapids, Michigan
AAHRPP President and CEO Elyse I. Summers hailed the new accreditations as another example of "AAHRPP on the march."

To date, 247 organizations―including 46 international entities―have earned AAHRPP accreditation. Accredited organizations must show that they have built extensive safeguards into every level of their research operation and that they adhere to high standards for research. In today's global, collaborative research enterprise, organizations increasingly rely on AAHRPP accreditation status to help identify trusted research partners.
AAHRPP has accredited organizations across the United States and in Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, India, Mexico, Republic of Korea, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Africa, Taiwan and Thailand. All major U.S. independent institutional review boards have earned AAHRPP accreditation. In addition, 70 percent of U.S. medical colleges and 84 percent of the top National Institute of Health-funded academic medical centers are either AAHRPP accredited or have begun the accreditation process. NIH, the world's largest public funder of research, has earned accreditation, as has Pfizer, Inc., the largest industry sponsor of clinical research.
