(알링턴, 버지니아주 2018년 10월 23일 PRNewswire=연합뉴스) 벤처글로벌LNG(Venture Global LNG, Inc.)는 미국 연방에너지규제위원회(FERC)가 멕시코만에서 동사가 건설하는 10 MTPA 칼카시우패스 기지에 대한 환경영향평가서(EIS)를 발급했다고 발표했다. 2018년 8월 31일 FERC는 벤처글로벌LNG에 2018년 5월 18일에 발부한 환경 검토를 위한 변경 일정 통보에 따라 칼카시우패스 기지와 부속 트랜스카메론 파이프라인에 대한 최종 오더를 2019년 1월 22일 이전에 발급할 계획임을 통보했다. 본 프로젝트는 이제 2019년 초 최종 투자 결정과 착공 그리고 2022년으로 예상되는 상업 가동의 올바른 일정으로 가고 있다.
공동 CEO인 밥 펜더와 마이크 사벨은 입을 모아 "FERC의 최종 EIS 발급은 우리 칼카시우패스 프로젝트의 중요한 이정표"라고 하면서 "우리는 본 프로젝트가 쉘, BP, 에디슨S.p.A., 갈프, 렙솔 및 PGNiG과의 20년 확정 오프테이크 계약을 통해 완벽하게 자금 계획이 수립된 상태이기 때문에 내년 초 최종 투자 결정과 착공을 기대하고 있다"고 말했다.
이와 별도로 동사의 20 MTPA 플래크마인즈 LNG 기지와 부속 게이토 익스프레스 파이프라인은 FERC가 8월 31일에 발부한 환경 검토를 위한 일정 통보에 따라 2019년 5월 3일에 최종 환경영향평가서를 받게 될 것으로 예측한다. FERC는 90일 연방 인가 결정 마감일을 2019년 8월 1일로 정한 바 있다.
이 밖에, 벤처글로벌은 짐 스트로만이 수석부사장 겸 칼카시우패스 LNG 수출 기지 프로젝트디렉터로 동사에 합류했다고 발표했다. 스트로만 씨는 직전에 도미니언에너지에서 17년을 근무하면서 최근에는 도미니언의 코브 포인트 LNG 기지 프로젝트디렉터로 일했었다. 그는 그 직책에 근무하면서 FEED 최종 작업과 EPC 선정에서부터 공사 감리와 초도 프로젝트 가동에 이르는 프로젝트의 진행을 지휘 감독했다. 스트로만 씨는 또한 미 해군에서 20년 이상을 복무하면서 중령으로 예편한 예비역 군인이다.

Venture Global LNG Announces Regulatory Milestone and Hiring of Project Director for Calcasieu Pass LNG Project
ARLINGTON, Virginia, Oct. 23, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Venture Global LNG, Inc. announces that the U.S. Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) has issued the final Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the company's 10 MTPA Calcasieu Pass facility on the Gulf of Mexico. On August 31, 2018, FERC notified Venture Global LNG that it plans to issue a Final Order for the Calcasieu Pass facility and the associated TransCameron Pipeline no later than January 22, 2019, in line with the Notice of Revised Schedule for Environmental Review issued on May 18, 2018. The project remains on track for a Final Investment Decision and commencement of construction in early 2019 with full commercial operations expected in 2022.
"FERC's issuance of the final EIS is an important milestone for our Calcasieu Pass project. With the project fully contracted for financing with binding 20-year offtake agreements with Shell, BP, Edison S.p.A., Galp, Repsol and PGNiG, we are looking forward to a Final Investment Decision and commencement of construction early next year," Co-CEOs Bob Pender and Mike Sabel jointly stated.
Separately, the company's 20 MTPA Plaquemines LNG facility and associated Gator Express Pipeline expects to receive its final Environmental Impact Statement on May 3, 2019, according to the Notice of Schedule for Environmental Review issued by FERC on August 31. FERC has established a 90-day Federal Authorization Decision Deadline of August 1, 2019.
Additionally, Venture Global announces that Jim Strohman has joined the company as a Senior Vice President and the Project Director for the Calcasieu Pass LNG export facility. Previously, Mr. Strohman spent 17 years with Dominion Energy where he most recently served as the Project Director for Dominion's Cove Point LNG facility. In that capacity, he directed the execution of the project from FEED finalization and EPC selection through to commissioning and initial project operations. Mr. Strohman is also a retired Commander of the US Navy Reserve, where he served for more than 20 years.
Mr. Sabel and Mr. Pender added: "At Cove Point, Jim directed and delivered - safely, on time and within budget - the largest construction project to date for both Dominion and the state of Maryland, with a budget that exceeded $4 billion, more than 10,000 craft workers and 20 million total work hours.
