(워싱턴 2017년 7월 19일 PRNewswire=연합뉴스) 사이버대비연구소(The Cyber Readiness Institute (CRI))가 특별히 중소기업 지원에 역점을 둔 민간 분야 밸류 체인의 사이버보안 리스크 관리 향상을 도모하기 위해 오늘 출범한다. 동 연구소는 정치적으로 중립적인 두 개의 비영리 조직인 세계기업센터(The Center for Global Enterprise (CGE))와 책임기업및거래센터(Center for Responsible Enterprise And Trade (CREATe.org))가 공동으로 설립한다. 공동 회장들은 다음과 같다. IBM에서 회장과 CEO를 역임한 후 은퇴하여 현재 세계기업센터(CGE) 회장을 맡은 사무엘 J. 팔미사노, 마스터카드의 사장 겸 CEO 아제이 방가, 마이크로소프트 CEO 사티야 나델라, 전 미국 상무부 장관이었으며 현 PSP캐피털파트너즈 회장인 페니 프리츠커.

사이버대비연구소는 사이버보안을 효과적으로 달성하는 데 필요한 사람, 과정 및 기술을 관리할 수 있는 베스트 프랙티스를 확보하기 위해 다양한 분야의 세계적인 기업들의 고위 경영진을 모을 예정이다. 이들의 집단 지성을 통해 사이버대비연구소가 전 세계 밸류 체인의 보안을 위해 설계하고 개발한 사이버 리스크 관리 콘텐츠와 툴을 제공하게 된다. 동 연구소의 작업은 이 툴들을 중소기업에 실제로 적용하는 것과 이를 효과적으로 실행할 필요 인력에 역점을 두게 될 것이다.

사이버대비연구소는 향후 수개월 내에 CEO들과 그들 기업의 해당 분야 전문가들 및 동 밸류 체인 대표자들을 추가로 선임하여 가장 시급한 사이버보안 리스크 관리 대상을 찾아 결정하는 세션에 참여시킬 것이다. 이 과정은 국가 사이버보안 향상을 위한 대통령 자문위원회가 2016년 12월에 작성한 보고서("자문위원회 보고서")에 들어 있던 민간 분야에 대한 정책 제안을 평가하는 것으로 시작된다.

CGE and CREATe.org Launch 'Cyber Readiness Institute' with Industry Leaders to Improve Cyber Risk Management and Help Secure Value Chains

WASHINGTON, July 19, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The Cyber Readiness Institute (CRI) launches today to enable the private sector to better address cybersecurity risk management across value chains, with a particular emphasis on support for small and medium-sized enterprises. The Institute is a joint initiative by two nonprofit and nonpartisan organizations, The Center for Global Enterprise (CGE) and the Center for Responsible Enterprise And Trade (CREATe.org). Co-chairs are: Samuel J. Palmisano, Retired Chairman and CEO, IBM Corporation, and Current Chairman, The Center for Global Enterprise (CGE); Ajay Banga, President and CEO, Mastercard; Satya Nadella, CEO, Microsoft; and Penny Pritzker, Former U.S. Secretary of Commerce and Chairman of PSP Capital Partners.

The Cyber Readiness Institute will convene senior leaders of global companies from across sectors to capture best practices for managing the people, processes, and technology needed for effective cybersecurity. This collective knowledge will inform the Cyber Readiness Institute's development of cyber risk management content and tools designed to help secure global value chains. The Institute's work will emphasize the practical application of these tools for small and medium-sized businesses and the workforce requirements for effective implementation.

In the coming months, the Cyber Readiness Institute will recruit additional CEOs, their company's subject matter experts, and representatives from their value chain to participate in sessions to identify and select the most pressing cybersecurity risk management priorities. This process will begin by assessing private sector recommendations contained in the December 2016 report from the President's Commission on Enhancing National Cybersecurity ("Commission Report").
