마르케스연구소장인 마리사 로페즈-테이혼 박사, 동 연구소의 과학 디렉터인 알렉스 가르시아-파우라 박사와 질 내 기구인 베이비팟을 만든 루이스 팔라레스가 MIT에서 연구 결과를 설명했다. 바르셀로나대학 의대 해부학 및 태생학 교수인 알베르토 프랫츠 박사도 동 연구팀의 일원이다.
매사추세츠공과대학에서의 이번 회합은 그 해에서 가장 놀라우며 혁신적인 과학 연구에 수여하는 이그 노벨상 수상 행사의 일부이다.
이그 노벨 의학상
마리사 로페즈 -테이혼 박사는 이그 노벨 의학상을 받았는데 동 상의 27년 역사상 최초의 산과 분야 수상자이다.
이그 노벨상 수상식은 하버드대학과 매사추세츠공과대학에서 열리는데 전 세계 유수의 과학자들을 초청하여 수상자들의 연구 결과를 재미있고 유쾌하게 발표한다.

Dr. Marisa Lopez-Teijon has been awarded the Ig Nobel Prize for Medicine, the first one in Obstetrics in the 27-year history of the award.
The Ig Nobel ceremony is held at Harvard University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology, hosting prestigious scientists from around the world to present their studies to the public in a fun and enjoyable way.
